Students will learn to have fun with their horse, and create a bond of understanding
that is greater than any thing they can imagine.
Learning the Natural Way will give the student insight on how a horse thinks.
(A horse can only think like a horse... however, humans can learn to think like a horse)
Horse don't care how much you know until they know how much you care, then they
care how much you know
Lessons are offered Tuesday thru Friday 10am till 6:30pm. See Calendar Page for times.
Make up dates are flexible to accommodate students schedules.
Refunds are available for other DRS activities such as Trail Rides, Birthday Parties.
Lesson Rates:
$30.00 per 1-1/2 hour lesson - Ages 7 and up
$18.00 per 45 min lesson - Ages 4-6
Individual Packages:
$90.00 6 week 45 min lesson
$150.00 6 week  1  hour lesson
$240.00 12 week 1 hour lesson
Group Packages:
Two to four per group
$108.00 per person 6 week  1 hour lesson - Ages 7 and

15 minutes ground games
30 minutes tacking & riding
15 minutes untacking/review

Natural Horsemanship Lessons Outline

Introduction to facilities
Safety
Basic grooming
Learn about the horse's sense of vision, touch, hearing, and social behavior

Proper use of lead rope at walk
Identify vital signs and parameters to observe on the horse
Characteristics of a healthy horse
Learn how to make these observations and evaluate your horse
Bridle /unbridle fitted headstall
Proper way to saddle a horse
Ground drive a bridal horse
Evaluate tack condition & adjust for proper fit


Mount and dismount saddled horse without assistance
Unsaddle and stow tack
Mounted warm-up and cool down drills
Start and stop horse properly at a walk and trot
Emergency dismount procedures at standstill and walk
Identify common horse colors and marking


Controlled trail ride at walk
Stand in settled manner before and after left/right 180 turn
Develop an understanding of basic horse psychology
Halter horse at liberty
Proper use of lead rope
Leading in patterns
Mount & dismount horse bare back without assistance
Learn the equipment used on horse
Mounted warm-up & cool down drills bare back


Encourage horse to successfully accomplish intimidating task
Back up horse
Cantering
Evaluate & adjust tack for another horse
Evaluate & adjust tack for another rider
Lunging with 12ft  lead at walk/trot without whip

Develop the ability to identify a balanced horse
Clean and examine all hooves
Sharp/smooth 90 degree and 180 degree turns at walk
Pattern riding
Complete smooth figure eight at the trot
Controlled trail ride at walk/trot
