| DRS is Central Kentucky's premier destination for your equine field trip. Located 7 miles south of Lexington at exit 97 off I-75. DRS 100 acres is nestled right in the heart of Daniel Boone Country. With 7 miles of trails and 2 outdoor riding arenas, as well as our 12,000 square feet indoor facility, we can host groups of up to 60 children. Children will see how horses live as a herd and learn about habitat, survival instinct, love, compassion and forgiveness. Outline: 3 wonderful hours of: 1. Riding lessons a. Mount and dismount a horse b. Balance while riding c. Hold reins correctly 2. Grooming lessons a. Learn how to approach horses safely b. What tools to use when grooming c. How to groom a horse 3. Learn how to tack - putting on saddle and bridle a. How to approach horses with tack b. Correct way of putting on saddle blanket and saddle c. Correct way of putting on bridle There will also be a 30 minute nature hike looking for hidden treasures. Children will enjoy their own packed sack lunch picnic style. |
